David Idowu is a painter based in Greater Philadelphia and a 2024 graduate of the University of the Arts. His work focuses on honoring the presence and dignity of aging individuals, a theme he explores through still-life and portraiture. Inspired by the photographs of Eric Gyamfi and the paintings of Segun Fagorusi, he brings attention to figures often overlooked in society, using refined technical skill to give them a commanding presence.

Idowu has been recognized with the Sam McKeel Scholarship for Promising Artists and the Frances C. Tucker Prize for Innovation in Materials and Techniques. His work has been exhibited at the Charles Addams Gallery, including his senior thesis show, Ephemeral. Looking ahead, he plans to continue developing his practice through artist residencies and pursue a master's degree in Studio Art.
